I’ve spent my career running toward fires when others are running away, so when I heard reports of mysterious smoke coming from a remote tropical island, naturally, I went to investigate.
I expected a brush fire.
I found a volcano.
Turns out, there are some fires even a Fire Chief can’t put out.
Now I’m stranded in the jungle with an increasingly angry volcano behind me, no engine in sight, no radio reception, and apparently no mutual aid available on this island.
For once, I’m the one who needs rescuing.
And while I’d certainly appreciate getting off this island, there’s a much better reason to help with my rescue.
Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand what it means when people step up to serve their community. Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference gives young people the opportunity to learn that lesson early - to recognize needs around them, take action, and discover that they have the ability to make a difference.
