🐍 Help! The Diamondbacks Are in Dangerous Territory! 🐍
We thought a jungle hike adventure would be a great way to put our Union Mine Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference leadership team to the test.
Somehow, that adventure took a very wrong turn, and Mr. Neville and several of our student leaders found themselves stranded on a Jungle Island.
No boat. No cell service. No clear way off the island.
This was definitely not part of the plan.
Still, we’re Hands4Hope youth. We know how to work together, solve problems, and step up when things don’t go according to plan. Surely, we could figure this out.
Then we made a terrible discovery.
Jungle Island is crawling with snakes.
Not the kind of snakes we’re familiar with, either. Bright green. 8 feet long. Deadly bite.
They’re in the trees. They’re hiding in the brush. They’re slithering across the trail. Every rustle has someone jumping, nobody wants to walk in front, and Mr. Neville is beginning to question who approved this particular team-building exercise.
Suddenly, finding a way off Jungle Island before they get bit by snakes has become a little more urgent!!
We need to be rescued before the bite becomes deadly - and we need your help!
We’re raising funds to rescue Mr. Neville and our Union Mine Hands4Hope team from Jungle Island. But behind all the jungle chaos is a very real reason Mr. Neville agreed to join us on this adventure. As Principal of Union Mine, he believes strongly in giving students opportunities to discover their ability to create meaningful change:

I have seen firsthand how Hands4Hope turns casual observers into active leaders by teaching them to analyze community needs, design thoughtful solutions, and put real-world skills into practice.
My participation in the Rescue Bail fundraiser was an opportunity to support and empower our students, be creative, and model finding joy in serving others, as these qualities are essential to building a thriving community.”

That’s what our Union Mine Hands4Hope club is all about. We have the opportunity to step up, serve others, develop our own ideas, and learn what we’re capable of when we put those ideas into action.
Even better, funds raised through our Rescue Bail campaign will help support our Hands4Hope club right here at Union Mine, creating more opportunities for students to lead, serve, and make a difference.
