Hello:

I’m Hans Senfuma, an Ugandan LGBTQI+ rights activist and writer currently living in Uganda, located in East Africa and known as the "Pearl of Africa" for its beautiful sceneries and the hospitality of its people.

Unfortunately, this hospitality and love are no longer in existence. Instead, hate permeates every aspect of the country. Same-sex relationships or being gay in Uganda can lead to the death penalty or life imprisonment.

LGBTQI+ individuals are not entitled to have a place to rent or call home, and if they do, their landlords can be sentenced to 10 years in prison.

LGBTQI+ people are also denied freedom of speech, and if they are caught expressing themselves, they can be sentenced to 20 years in prison. Those who commit an "offense" of homosexuality are also sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Today, I have set up this fundraiser with the help of Rainbow Advocacy / OUR PRIDE to support my relocation program.

Due to my active presence on social media and my online activism, my landlady discovered my social media handles and the content I advocate for. This scared her, and she claimed that I am a security threat to her and the neighbors' children, alleging that I might recruit them into homosexuality.

She has ordered me to vacate her premises by the end of February.

If I fail to comply, she will call the police, and I will be charged under the Anti-Homosexuality law, facing either 20 years of imprisonment due to my content on social media and in a maximum security prison.

I kindly ask for your support by donating to my fundraiser, aiming to reach a target of $900. Your support means a lot to me, no matter the amount.

Despite all the hardships, I will continue to advocate for my rights because I believe everyone deserves equal rights, regardless of who they are.

World Pride 2025 Short Documentary:
Hans is currently working on the "Voices of Courage" short documentary which is to be presented for World Pride 2025 in Washington, DC, which is funded through a Troy Perry Legacy Grant presented by Rainbow Advocacy in November 2024.

Liberation Designs:
In 2023, Rainbow Advocacy provided a Troy Perry Legacy Grant for the economic empowerment project "Liberation Designs / Tailoring Our Way to Freedom Project," which was proposed by InterPride member nonprofit organization Coloured Voices Media Foundation in Uganda.
