The Problem: Finding your people as a women+ athlete can be difficult, especially in a region that has historically been unsupportive. After college, many people stop playing organized sports entirely—not by choice, but because accessible, welcoming communities are few and far in between. For LGBTQ+ people especially, finding a space where they can find high levels of competition and be themselves authentically is still a significant challenge in the Southeast.

Our Solution: For over 40 years, the Atlanta Harlequins have been tackling these barriers. We are Georgia's first women's rugby team, Georgia's first International Gay Rugby team, and one of the oldest women's rugby clubs in the nation. We pride ourselves on being a grassroots team - meaning we welcome complete beginners alongside seasoned athletes. Currently ranked 5th in Division 1 competition, we travel the East Coast competing with teams from DC to Virginia. But, our real victory happens off the field: we've created a chosen family where members find their closest adult friendships, career mentors, and the confidence to tackle anything life throws at them.
