Kids arrive at Harris Home at all hours. 2am, 11pm, right after school. Usually with DHR. Usually with whatever they could carry — which is often nothing at all.

The first hour here matters. Before counseling, before case planning, before any of the long work of residential care begins, there's the practical matter of showing a kid that they have a bed, a towel, and a toothbrush that belongs to them.
