Story
Hasek's Heroes began in 2001 when Dominik Hasek, one of Buffalo's most renowned athletes, decided to give back to the community that cheered for him on the ice. Our mission is simple: to open the world of hockey to young people who might not otherwise have the chance to play. We believe in the power of sports to provide structure, support, and life-changing experiences to children in need.
Through our "Learn to Skate" and "Learn to Play Hockey" programs, we offer 100% free programming to give children in the WNY area the opportunity to learn not just how to skate and play hockey, but valuable life skills. Our focus extends beyond skating and scoring goals. Each week, participants learn about teamwork, persistence, and understanding, reflecting the principles of our H.E.R.O.E.S. curriculum.
H for Helpful: Encouraging kids to offer help and support to their teammates.
E for Engaged: Keeping an active interest in both the game and the well-being of others.
R for Resilient: Teaching the importance of overcoming challenges and setbacks.
O for Open-Minded: Fostering an attitude of openness and willingness to learn.
E for Empathetic: Cultivating empathy towards teammates and the community.
S for Strong: Building inner strength and determination.
We're more than a sports program. We're a community that nurtures young people, encourages them to be their best, build character and forge friendships that can last a lifetime.
Your support allows us to continue providing equipment, coaching, and a safe place for kids to grow in the game of hockey who would otherwise not have the chance.
