The Black Man’s Health Festival® was created to help Black men live longer, fuller lives with better health outcomes. Held at the Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, the festival is a celebration of Black men and all the many forms of love and support they deserve.

"The event was free-flowing and vibrant, with a multitude of activities. My personal favorite activity from that day was the healing circle, led by Men at Work Healing. It was powerful. A group of Black men from all walks of life, of various ages, bonded over our shared experiences, whether joyous or traumatic, in a place free from judgment, where we all understood each other. I came to this event with zero expectations, not knowing what to expect. A part of me almost didn’t go, but I’m truly grateful that I did. That day was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will forever remember."

2025 will mark the 4th installment of The Black Man’s Health Festival®. The Black Man’s Health Festival® was created to celebrate and uplift Black men, while providing necessary support and resources to ensure better outcomes in underserved communities. The festival has established partnerships with local Community Based Organizations, small businesses, churches, hospitals, and corporations to ensure our mission is fulfilled.

This year, to take our support of the community to the next level we're expanding the previously one-day event to three full days of activations and experiences. Each day of the festival will provide health screenings and invite vendors to engage with the community in an ongoing health and wellness celebration featuring both traditional and nontraditional interventions. But we can't do it without your generous contributions:

UNLOCKED! - $25 can help provide a meal for a man in need
UNLOCKED! - $50 can provide a haircut
UNLOCKED! - $100 can offer unconscious bias training for a medical practitioner in the community
UNLOCKED! - $250 can ensure a Black man sees his Primary Care Physician, even without insurance
UNLOCKED! - $500 can connect a Black man to a community organization that provides housing, legal counsel, medication, or other lifestyle supports
UNLOCKED! - $1,000 can provide a life-saving medical screening
$2,500 can cover the cost of an underinsured man receiving medical treatment
$5,000 can ensure access to the highest quality medical staff on site at the festival
$10,000 can secure a health screening booth for a medical provider
$25,000 can provide gift bags with health and wellness items to every attendee
$50,000 can cover a full day of activations

About Us

Heart, Body & Soul, Inc. (HBS), a Brooklyn based 501(c)(3) nonprofit was created to be a resource to Black men, particularly in underserved communities, as it relates to their physical and mental health. Our mission is to serve communities of color, particularly Black men and make them more aware of their bodies, especially as it pertains to physical and mental health issues. Our goal is to encourage Black men to have open and honest conversations with their healthcare providers, friends, and families if something in their body doesn't feel right and in turn empower them to become leaders in transforming the health of their respective communities.

Why We Do It

To engage Black men and inspire them to take action and see a health care provider when something in their body doesn’t feel right.
• Normalize open and honest conversations about physical and mental health issues.
• Encourage Black men to select a primary care physician and get annual check-ups.
• Host quarterly cooking demos teaching men to prepare healthy and affordable meals.
• Gather data on hurdles faced when seeking healthcare to ensure better health outcomes in underserved communities.
• Host frequent health screenings and health talks with various doctors and hospitals in underserved communities to reduce the number of disease related deaths.
• Work with other organizations (hospitals, nonprofits, churches, fraternities, etc.) to ensure effective outreach to underserved communities is achieved and to ensure quality care is attained by those in need.

Our Community Partners

About the Founder

Heart, Body & Soul (HBS) was conceptualized by Christopher Williams. A two-time heart attack and cancer survivor, Christopher identified a need within communities of color for special attention when it comes to access to quality health care, resources, education and so much more to ensure better lives, but what was screaming loudly, was the need to focus his efforts on helping Black men. When asked why he developed Heart, Body & Soul, Christopher had this to say – “Health is a huge issue in the Black community and unfortunately due to the healthcare disparities that exist, including lack of access to quality wellness programs, food deserts in our community and limited health education to name a few, Black men are less likely to get annual check-ups, seek mental health services or share their health challenges with others. Whether it’s cultural, psychological or generational, the fact remains that open and honest conversations about physical and mental health need to be had and it needs to happen frequently among Black men.”
