Story

Under One Roof

Create Housing Equity Across King County—Together.

HDC's annual member celebration has traditionally been an eagerly anticipated event. The program has always been a time for everyone in this varied and far-flung sector to come together to reconnect face to face; to acknowledge the challenges and collective progress of the past year; and most importantly, to lift up and honor the people of this movement whose daily work and tireless commitment are responsible for that progress.

Because we weren't able to host the event last year, we're thrilled to announce that we're back! But this has been quite a different sort of year, and this will be quite a different sort of celebration.

A year ago, King County was already in the midst of an alarming affordable housing crisis marked by stark and longstanding racial inequity. In the year since, the pandemic has greatly increased housing insecurity overall and its disproportionate impact on communities of color.

Equity has always been at the very heart of the HDC movement. And right now, our community needs us all to step forward, in bold and unified ways, to build equity faster than this pandemic and whatever else is going on in the world can take it away.

Never before have the words "we're all in this together" been more important, and never before has the "big tent" movement that is HDC been more vital to lasting success. This will be clear in our member celebration this year. Yes, it will be a virtual celebration, but that's the only concession we're making to the pandemic! Our program will miss not one bit of the joy and inspiration it has become famous for.

Our Celebration

HDC Annual Celebration (Virtual)

HDC member organizations have worked incredibly hard this year to bridge that gap and work towards the notion that housing is a human right—it's time to recognize and celebrate the our member organizations' work and our community's progress on affordable housing. While we cannot gather in person this year to celebrate HDC’s 13th Annual Celebration, we can all celebrate together virtually.

On April 21, HDC will host Under One Roof, our first fully virtual Celebration.  Our goals are to create an opportunity to be in community with each other, and to recognize and celebrate the affordable housing community and our sector's accomplishments in the face of both expected and unforeseen challenges this past year. Attendees will also have a chance to support HDC in our continued work as a convener and collaborative force for housing justice in King County.

Register today to:

  • Join the virtual celebration
  • Access networking opportunities to connect with your colleagues in the housing sector
  • Be part of the awards to our outstanding housing champions

Pre-Event Networking

April 21, 11 - 11:50 AM

Join us on Kumospace for our pre-event networking event. Kumospace makes connecting online feel as natural as connecting offline, with breakout rooms based on housing consortium focus areas. As a guest, you can move across virtual rooms to chat with your colleagues.

Kumospace seamlessly accommodates multiple conversations so that guests can focus on the topics that interest them most. With spatial audio, guests who are closer together can hear each other clearly, but can’t hear guests who are far away across the room. By mimicking the physical world experience, groups can organically form and dissolve in different areas of the same Kumospace at the same time.

There’s no software to download or install. The entire experience happens right in your web browser.

The link to access our space will be provided the morning of the event via email.
