On the afternoon of January 29th, 2026, our son rode his e-scooter to water polo practice. At a crosswalk, a car struck him. He sustained a frontal lobe fracture, fractured vertebrae, and a traumatic brain injury. The rest of his body was relatively unscathed — meaning a helmet would have been the difference between a scary afternoon and a life completely interrupted.

After the accident, something unexpected happened. Families across the country reached out to share that the same thing had happened to someone close to them. Different names. Different stories. The same devastating, preventable outcome. Many of them weren't as lucky as our son.

We created HeadStrong because we refuse to let his accident be just a statistic.

Our Mission

HeadStrong exists to save lives and prevent brain injuries by building a movement that champions helmet use for every electric vehicle ride — just as helmets became essential in skiing and snowboarding, and seatbelts became non-negotiable in cars. We believe helmet safety isn't a rules conversation. It's a culture conversation. And culture changes when young people lead it.
