Transforming Families (TFF) is an inclusive safe space for families with transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive, and questioning youth ages 3 to 18. TFF holds five in-person monthly peer support meetings in Saint Paul, Apple Valley, Mahtomedi, Minneapolis, Mankato, Rochester, and Duluth. We also offer a virtual parent meeting once per month on Zoom.

Our values are centered around our vision of a Minnesota where trans youth are free to be who
they are without constraints from parents, communities, schools, and legislative bodies:

We believe that all trans youth deserve a safe, supportive, and trans-competent home.
We believe that trans children should be listened to and that their identities should be affirmed.
We believe that trans youth deserve equity in every school district in Minnesota and that geography should not be a determining factor in how kids are treated.
We believe that trans community members should always be fairly paid for their work, as opposed to being asked to volunteer time to educate cisgender people.
We believe that all trans folks, and especially trans youth, should be celebrated!

Since our inception in 2011, TFF has grown from a small group of parents and their trans teens to its own organization serving hundreds of MN families. Our team consists of parents of trans youth, trans folks, and community professionals who leverage each other's lived experiences to enrich the organization. At TFF meetings, veteran parents mentor those who are new to the journey, and trans adults serve as role models to our youth. Our trans leaders are particularly valued because their intrinsic knowledge ensures that the perspectives of our youth are always our first priority. We are proud to be part of the web of organizations that support trans youth in Minnesota.
