Mabel is a tiny dog with a big, loving personality — and right now, she needs our help.

Mabel has a medical condition called cherry eye, which happens when the tear-producing gland of the third eyelid slips out of place. In Mabel’s case, it affects both of her eyes.

That means her view of the world is partially blocked, and her eyes are likely uncomfortable and irritated much of the time. Left untreated, cherry eye can lead to ongoing inflammation and chronic dry eye.

The good news is that Mabel can be helped.

Her surgery will allow the specialist to correct the condition, either by placing the tissue back where it belongs or by removing it if that is determined to be the best option for her long-term comfort.

Mabel is only about 3 years old. She is sweet, affectionate, house-trained, good with other dogs, and happiest when she is close to her people. She loves walks, snuggles, and curling up beside someone she trusts.

Now she deserves the chance to move through life with less discomfort and a clearer view of the world around her.
