Lili needs your help for a happy, healthy future!

Lili is a sweet 12- week-old female kitten who was rescued from the streets with her mother and sibling when they were very young. They have spend the last several weeks with a foster family growing. A couple of weeks ago, Lili's foster noticed that she was becoming lethargic and was vomiting/regurgitating her meals frequently.

The journey to a diagnosis begins...

Lili was taken to the ER on Saturday 8/15/2026. The doctor thought she had possibly aspirated some of her food while vomiting, but no further diagnostics were done. On Sunday 8/16/2026, our regular vet graciously came in to take a look at Lili. Without staff to help with further diagnostics, Lili was given subcutaneous fluids and anti-nausea medication and asked to be brought back in Monday morning. On Monday 8/17/2026, a barium study was performed. The x-rays revealed the problem: Lili has a rare birth defect called Vascular Ring Anomaly. This is when a vessel develops abnormally, wraps around and squeezes the esophagus, preventing food from passing through easily and resulting in regurgitation of meals.

The next step: Consultation with a veterinary surgical specialist.

Lili had a consultation with a surgical specialist on 8/24/2026. He is experienced with this condition and has performed the surgery many times before. He is optimistic that because Lili is still very young, with surgical intervention to correct the anomaly, her esophagus will return to normal size and she will go on to live a normal, happy, healthy life. Time is of the essence, so we have scheduled Lili's surgery for this Thursday, 8/27/2026. The estimated cost of this life-saving procedure is $4155.
