Assistant Trainer Huck needs your help.

If you’ve ever been to RISE, you’ve probably seen Huck.

You’ve probably also seen the signs in the window that read "Attack Cat on Duty". And honestly? They’re not wrong.

Huck is our resident cat, our unofficial security guard, our Assistant Trainer, and, whether he likes to admit it or not, a very important member of the RISE family.

He has a very specific job here. He supervises. He judges. He participates in training sessions. He keeps everyone on their toes. And he has made it very clear that he in fact runs the show. Huck does things on Huck’s terms.

But late last night, as everyone was heading home for the day, we noticed that something just wasn’t right.

When Huck started acting funny, we didn’t wait to see if it would pass. One of our team members braved some ridiculously dense fog and headed straight for the emergency hospital.

It turns out Huck had a urinary blockage, which is a life-threatening emergency.

The good news is that we caught it early. Huck was stable when we got him there, and the emergency team moved quickly to get him comfortable and start treatment.

The not-so-good news? Huck will need to stay hospitalized for the next few days, and his bill is already more than $4,700.

And, of course, this happens at the worst possible time.

Our recent intakes have brought a whole new round of medical expenses. We have not one, but TWO hip surgeriescoming up. We have a few other specialty surgeries that have been patiently waiting their turn. And we have a couple of dogs we strongly suspect may be pregnant. Our veterinary bills are already through the roof, and now our boy Huck needs us, too.

We don't hesitate when one of our animals needs emergency care. Huck is family. And when one of our own needs help, we show up.

Now we’re asking you to show up for Huck, too.

If you can donate toward his emergency care, even $5 or $10 helps. Every dollar goes directly toward getting Huck through this and back home where he belongs—back to supervising our trainers, intimidating unsuspecting visitors, and reminding everyone that the signs really are there for a reason.

Please help us get Assistant Trainer Huck back on the job.

Donate for Huck. Help us save our boy.
