What is the Sex Worker's Guide to the Apocalypse?

The SWGA is an educational guide supplying the most pertinent information needed to survive the collapse of the United States government and systems as we know it. The Guide is a collection of practical tools, techniques, and strategies to promote survival and safety across a number of dimensions, including digital safety, personal/physical safety, health and wellness, food security, and housing stability.

The SWGA consists of 3 parts:

a print MAGAZINE
a set of educational/ instructional VIDEOS
an in person Apocalypse RESOURCE CARNIVAL

Our socio-political context is shifting rapidly, and while labeling our current situation an "apocalypse" is a new concept for many of us, the truth is sex workers have been surviving and thriving amidst systems meant to destroy and disappear them for a very long time. This is exactly why we are positioning sex workers as the experts in outlining the best tools and strategies to navigate a world that is growing increasingly “unsafe”.

Here is what we can do with your generous donations:

$10 Covers costs for printing 1 copy of the Guide.
$25 Transportation for 1 community member to attend the Apocalypse Resource Carnival.
$50 Printing and shipping of guides to one of our partner orgs for free distribution to their member base.
$100 Allows us to pay one of the print guides contributors for their piece in the print Guide.
$250 Covers travel costs associated with bringing a workshop facilitator to LA for our event.
$500 Covers venue and on site video capture costs associated with the Apocalypse Resource Carnival.
$1000 Covers production costs for a 5-part educational video series.

Who is the SWGA team?

The Guide is being hosted by Sex Workers Outreach Project Los Angeles (SWOPLA), a sex worker-led peer support and advocacy nonprofit pursuing human rights, bodily autonomy, racial and social justice through outreach, education, mutual aid, community building, and political advocacy for sex workers.

Two of SWOPLA's team members- Sophia Coleman and cee sando, are leading the Guide's contributors, 16 femme, trans, nonbinary and gender expansive current and former sex-working individuals of various identities including Black, Indigenous and people of color, queer, disabled, unstably housed, immigrant, poor and formerly incarcerated individuals.
