Meet Perla 2

When Perla 2 arrived at FIGHT Ministries in January 2026, she was carrying a heavy burden.

At just 15 years old, she had experienced significant sexual trauma and exploitation. The people who should have protected and cared for her had instead caused deep emotional wounds. As a result, she struggled to trust others and had difficulty believing that she was worthy of love and kindness.

Yet even in the midst of her pain, there was something special about Perla 2.

"Perla 2 is a sociable girl with a vibrant personality," our psychologist shared.

When she first arrived at the Refuge, that vibrant personality was often hidden behind hurt, fear, and self-protection. Years of difficult experiences had taught her to keep her guard up. Receiving love from others did not come naturally because healthy love was something she had rarely experienced.

But healing began when Perla 2 entered a safe and caring environment.

For the first time, she was surrounded by people who consistently showed her patience, compassion, and unconditional care. Day after day, the staff at FIGHT Ministries reminded her that she mattered, that she was valuable, and that she was loved.

Slowly, her heart began to heal.

Today, Perla 2's joyful personality shines brightly. She is funny, expressive, and always looking for ways to make others laugh. Her laughter is contagious and brings joy to those around her.

She has also grown tremendously in her ability to receive love and encouragement from others. The girl who once struggled to trust now understands that she is cared for by the people around her. She is learning to see herself the way God sees her—as worthy, valuable, and deeply loved.

Perla 2's story is still being written, but her future is already brighter than her past.

Perla 2's story is why the Refuge exists.

Today, six girls are receiving safety, counseling, education, medical care, nutritious meals, and daily support through FIGHT Ministries. They are healing. They are learning. They are beginning to dream about futures that once felt impossible.

And we know there are many more girls who will need us in the years ahead.
