We have raised our goal to $30,000 to cover the continued and mounting expenses of surviving the genocide in Gaza.

After over a year of near-daily contact, we bring you another update from 29-year-old Ahmed, the eldest son of the Massoud family, who has become family to Jolie and Doris.

Last week (9/25), Israel killed 38 members of the Massoud family, severely injuring another six who remain in the ICU. Ahmed's immediate family of 13 lost everything (again) in the recent bombings. They require transportation, tents, food, water, and medicine to move yet again. They are experiencing the harshest possible conditions, which some have described as a "death march" due to the relentless siege, killing, and starvation.

Ahmed remains in Cairo, tirelessly trying to keep them alive while working in the Press, and taking care of 2 elderly grandparents, whom he crossed the border with last year because they needed medical evacuations. He shared this message of urgency with us on 9/25.

We have already survived the unimaginable... We have lost our family home and our neighborhood, and are mourning the recent deaths of 38 family members, while praying for 6 to survive. We survived near-miss bombings, several displacements, significant injuries, and the pangs of hunger.

Every day, survival is not guaranteed.

Your generosity gives my family strength, hope, and life in these darkest of days.

And the struggle is far from over.

To truly reach safety (transportation costs are very high) and obtain the smallest sense of stability, we set a goal of $30,000. This amount will enable my family to secure safe housing, have consistent access to food and water, and receive urgent medical care, even during these difficult times of scarce resources.

We are already on this journey together, but right now, the family is very much at risk. We cannot stop halfway.

Dear friends,

I am honored to have Ahmed Massoud, a 28-year-old journalist from Gaza who has endured unimaginable hardship, as my friend. I have been in almost daily contact with Ahmed, during which time I have learned about the Masood's (and all Palestinians') struggle to survive Israel’s ongoing genocide.

Let's band together to care for a PRESS survivor who risks his life and that of his family to tell the truth for his people — the Palestinians. Over 225 journalists have been killed since October 8, 2023.

Ahmed himself was repeatedly injured and nearly killed. Somehow, he survived!

Last May, Ahmed took his grandparents to Cairo for desperately needed life-saving medical care. We are raising funds to help the rest of his family join them in Egypt, (as the opportunities become available, given the heavy ransom charged at the border).

The Massouds have moved from place to place, fighting off starvation, illnesses, and frostbite, living in overwhelming fear of fires everywhere, of the constant shelling, bombs, quadcopters, drones, and all manner of automatic weapons and grenades.

Donations cover food, water, medical care, medicine, blankets, and tents. We have paid for four passports so far and hope to cover the costs of safe passages out of Gaza and relocation. Receipts are available upon request.

Before the war began, Ahmed had a promising future. Since then, Israeli forces destroyed everything, reducing his house, studio, and dreams to rubble. They have lost everything, but what remains is Ahmed’s indomitable spirit.

When he is not busy speaking out, tending to his family, dealing with traumas, and helping medical refugees in Cairo, he continues to work on his documentary using the vast footage he has accumulated over the years.
