Walk a Mile. Carry the Weight. Fund the Healing.

Every one of us carries invisible weight - burdens from our past that shape who we are. For many, that weight begins in childhood.

This June, we’re inviting you to help bring those burdens into the light.
Sign up to be one of our Challengers in the Help Carry the Weight Walk - a powerful, month-long fundraiser in support of trauma-informed care for young adults.

What does a Challenger do?

Challengers commit to:

Walking one mile every day in June (30 miles total)
Wearing a weighted backpack to symbolize the burden of childhood trauma
Raising $25 per mile to support healing and empowerment for transition-aged youth

That’s a total fundraising goal of $750 per Challenger - with every dollar going directly to our S.A.F.E. Program.

All Challengers who complete the full 30 miles and meet their goal will receive a limited edition 2025 Carry the Weight Collector’s Pin, a small symbol of something so much bigger.

Why We Walk

We walk for the ones still carrying weight they didn’t choose.
We walk for those who never had the tools to unpack it.
We walk to fund a future where healing is possible.

What are ACEs?

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic or stressful events that occur before the age of 18 - such as abuse, neglect, or growing up with violence, addiction, or mental illness in the home.

Research shows that those with 4 or more ACEs are significantly more likely to face:

Physical health issues like diabetes and heart disease
Mental health struggles, including depression and anxiety
Difficulties with relationships, education, and employment
Even premature death

But ACEs don't define who we are.
With the right support, healing is possible.

What is the S.A.F.E. Program?

Our S.A.F.E. Program, which stands for Self, Achieve, Foundation, Evolve, delivers trauma-informed personal and professional development to young men and women who have experienced homelessness or instability.
