HER QUINCEAÑERA

He doesn’t know quinceañeras.
He knows his daughter.
The rest, they’ll figure out

Synopsis-

HER QUINCEAÑERA is a heartfelt family romantic comedy about culture, identity, and what it really means to be a father.

When Marcus Johnson, a charismatic Black sneaker salesman in Seattle, learns he must plan his Latina stepdaughter Isabella's quinceañera, he throws himself into the task with more ambition than understanding — burying the simple, meaningful celebration she actually wants under fog machines, LED lights, and elaborate surprises. Complicating everything is Diego, Isabella’s charismatic biological father, whose unpredictable presence as an absent musician forces Marcus to confront a question he has quietly carried for years: Where does a stepfather fit when a daughter still longs for her biological dad? Through a series of disasters, honest conversations, and hard-won humility, Marcus strips away every performance and ego-driven impulse to deliver what Isabella truly asked for — a traditional, sacred celebration rooted in faith, family, and love — culminating in a waltz where Diego, finally seeing what real fatherhood looks like, steps back and hands his daughter to the man who has been her father all along.

Funny, emotional, and rooted in the multicultural heartbeat of Seattle, HER QUINCEAÑERA is ultimately a story about two cultures coming together, a young girl finding her voice, and a man discovering that fatherhood isn’t something you prove with grand gestures. Sometimes, it’s as simple—and as difficult—as showing up

He wants to give his daughter the perfect quinceañera. She’s about to teach him what perfect really means.

"In a world where ICE is violently accosting and kidnapping Hispanic people in America daily and Hollywood often depicts the “Hispanic Guy” as the drug dealer/thief/bad guy, Her Quinceañera is an exquisitely refreshing BIPOC film that lets us find the sheer joy in Latin culture, cross culture among people of color and the beauty of blended families - all in one sweet cinematic package. We need this love and light in our lives as we combat the stereotypes that put our BIPOC community at risk. We need this film now more than ever."

Lara Lavi, Executive Producer & Production Attorney for Her Quinceañera

“I grew up around men like Marcus — fathers who sell things for a living, who measure their love in groceries brought home and bouquets bought on the way. Men whose tenderness shows up sideways. And I grew up around girls like Isabella — Black, Brown, blended — too smart for the rooms they're in, learning how to be seen on their own terms. Her Quinceañera is about the distance fathers leave and the bridges daughters build anyway. It's about a community that refuses to let any of its kids be raised alone. It's about a hall that becomes a church because the people inside it decide it is. Most of all — it's about the moment a girl looks at the man who showed up and calls him Dad for the first time. Not because he asked. Because he earned it.”
