Let me share with you a heartwarming Friends of the Musk Ox member story of dedication and generosity that spans over three decades. Phyllis and her late husband Larry found joy volunteering at the Musk Ox Farm back in the summer of 1989. The Millers have remained steadfast supporters, embodying the true spirit of our Friends of the Musk Ox community ever since.

For the past decade Phyllis has been our “Herd Angel,” generously donating a significant portion of the proceeds of a Donor Advised Fund she and Larry established in 2010. Her contributions, totaling around $25,000 each year, have been nothing short of transformative for our farm. A Donor Advised Fund allows the donor to place money into an account to appreciate the tax benefit on the front end while establishing an inflation proofed vehicle that will continue to grow and give into perpetuity per the wishes of the donor.

In a recent conversation, Phyllis expressed her desire to see her legacy of giving grow even further. She has graciously offered to match donations, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000, to bolster principle in planned giving. This means we have the incredible opportunity to secure up to $100,000 in new principle to fund the farm’s future!

Our goal now is to meet Phyllis’ challenge by raising 100 donations of $500 each.

Every dollar given will be matched, doubling its impact and ensuring a brighter tomorrow for our beloved musk oxen.
