Hero Dogs improves the quality of life of our nation’s heroes and enhances the services of community organizations by placing assistance dogs with customized training and lifetime support.

These dogs positively impact the lives of their new partners in a multitude of ways—from retrieving items, opening doors, turning on lights, and enabling mobility, to alerting their partners to sounds and waking them from nightmares. In short, an assistance dog can be invaluable and is provided to the veteran or first-responder by Hero Dogs at no cost.

It costs around $40,000 to raise and train a dog from puppy to placement, making the continuous generosity of our donors critical to our mission.

On October 17, Hero Dogs will host Unleash the Possibilities, an evening celebrating our mission, our assistance dog teams, and the possibilities that lie ahead. More importantly, the event will launch the public phase of our campaign to build a new training and housing facility for our dogs and clients.

Our new facility will give Hero Dogs the space we need to expand and strengthen our programs. It will include new accommodations for our Advanced Training dogs, including 20 indoor-outdoor kennels where dogs will begin the next phase of their assistance dog training on their way to placement.
