The mark you all have left on my soul could never be repaid. This experience has saved my life, thank you.

-Jeff Daughtery, Military Spouse

Heroes Healing Homestead was envisioned by Alaskan legend Atz Kilcher as a sanctuary where the healing power of nature, the strength of the warrior spirit, and the resourcefulness of the homesteading way of life come together. What began as his personal journey of healing has grown into a journey that passes these values forward to others.

At this sanctuary at the tip of Kachemak Bay veterans and youth discover positive identity, healing from trauma, and renewed purpose. Through wilderness retreats, rites of passage, and community mentorship, we honor the warrior spirit while preparing the next generation of leaders.

Your donation helps us provide:

Wellness in the Wild Retreats – immersive, trauma-informed healing in nature for veterans.
Veteran Caretaker Mentorship – year-round leadership and support roles for veterans.

Your gift comes alive in the voices of our 2025 participants—heroes and youth whose lives were reshaped through the power of these experiences.

This experience is something that I’ll always remember. It was more beneficial than years of therapy or any medicine. I learned more about myself, learned tools to be a better person. Honestly, the best decision I’ve made in my life. Thank you for helping put my life back on track

- Zack Sliver, Veteran

I have been doing intense and continuous recovery and healing work for nearly 2 decades and I have never felt more internally clean and mentally clear as I do right now. I feel rearranged in the best possible way.
