Heroes Healing Homestead was envisioned by Alaskan legend Atz Kilcher as a sanctuary where the healing power of nature, the strength of the warrior spirit, and the resourcefulness of the homesteading way of life come together. What began as his personal journey of healing has grown into a journey that passes these values forward to others.

At this sanctuary at the tip of Kachemak Bay veterans and youth discover positive identity, healing from trauma, and renewed purpose. Through wilderness retreats, rites of passage, and community mentorship, we honor the warrior spirit while preparing the next generation of leaders.

Wellness in the Wild Retreats – immersive, trauma-informed healing in nature for veterans.

Veteran Caretaker Mentorship – year-round leadership and support roles for veterans.

Youth Rites of Passage – 10 day wilderness-immersion and community service mentored by trained adults who encompass the warrior spirit. Guiding young people into adulthood who have carried too much, too soon—and are ready to be believed in.
