An All-Volunteer 501(c)(3) Serving First Responders and Their Families

In 2014, a group of veteran CSRA firefighters came together to support one of their own — fellow firefighters facing the hardships that follow a cancer diagnosis. FireK's founders rallied to cover shifts and raise funds to help their brothers and sisters in the fire service manage lost wages and unexpected expenses such as gas money, hotel stays, child care, medical specialists, advanced testing, and extensive treatments.

Later that year, the inaugural FireK 5K was born, challenging area firefighters to run the race in full turnout gear and air packs. The community took notice and showed up to support their heroes as those heroes supported their own. Since that first race, FireK has continued to grow, expanding its impact across the region.

Today, FireK provides direct financial assistance to first responder families battling cancer through cash disbursements that recipients can use wherever the need is greatest — without restrictions or reservations.

FireK also provides free cancer screenings for firefighters throughout Georgia and South Carolina, helping detect cancer earlier and improve outcomes for those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and community partners. Your support allows us to stand beside first responder families during some of their most difficult moments and ensure they never face cancer alone.
