High Point University Men’s Soccer will always be deeply connected to Goal 13 because it was such an important part of Holden Trent’s story.

Holden came to High Point as a young goalkeeper with big goals, but his years at HPU became about so much more than soccer. He grew into a leader, a teammate, a captain, and a young man who understood that the way you show up for others matters just as much as what you accomplish on the field.

The HPU Men’s Soccer program gave Holden a place to grow, compete, lead, and build relationships that became family. His teammates, coaches, and the High Point community were part of some of the most meaningful years of his life. Those relationships continued long after games ended and seasons changed.

When Goal 13 was created in Holden’s memory, it was built around many of the same values that defined his time at High Point: humility, perseverance, accountability, leadership, and being a good teammate.

That is why the connection between HPU Men’s Soccer and Goal 13 is so natural.

Goal 13 works to help young student-athletes understand that who they become matters just as much as how they perform. Through character education, mentorship, leadership development, and life-skills programming, we hope to pass along lessons that shaped Holden throughout his journey.

The support of HPU Men’s Soccer has helped keep that mission personal. Former teammates, coaches, alumni, and members of the High Point community continue to show up for Goal 13—not simply because of what Holden accomplished as a goalkeeper, but because of the relationships he built and the kind of teammate and friend he was.

Today, when HPU Men’s Soccer and Goal 13 come together, it represents something bigger than a partnership. It is a continuation of Holden’s story.

It is former teammates giving back.

It is coaches continuing to invest in young people.

It is alumni staying connected to a program that shaped them.

And it is a new generation of student-athletes learning that character, leadership, and the way you treat others can leave a legacy far beyond the game.

For Goal 13, High Point Men’s Soccer will always feel like home and we are incredibly grateful that the HPU Soccer family continues to walk alongside us as we carry Holden’s legacy forward.
