HistoFest™ 2027 (histofest.com) is Phoenix's first signature celebration of Black history and culture — a single day, seven eras, and a city transformed. On February 27, 2027, the streets of downtown Phoenix will come alive with the Cavalcade of Souls, a living procession honoring the full arc of the Black American experience: from Africa's ancient civilizations, through the Middle Passage, Reconstruction, the Great Migration, the Civil Rights Movement, the Hip-Hop generation, and into an Afrofuturist vision of what's still to come. This isn't a reenactment behind glass — it's history walking down the street, with children watching someone who looks like them at the front of the parade.

HistoFest is the vision of Fatimah Halim, who spent over three decades producing many of Phoenix's most celebrated civic events — including the Mayor's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast and the APS Electric Light Parade — before turning that experience toward building something permanent: a cultural institution, not a one-time event. Beyond the Cavalcade, HistoFest includes a Marketplace of 100+ Black-owned vendors, youth programming and student performances, and an evening Pioneer Awards ceremony honoring the visionary leaders who came before us.

Our Year One goals are ambitious and necessary: 10,000+ attendees, 50+ community organizations marching together, 100+ vendors, 500+ student participants, and 250+ volunteers building this movement from the ground up.
