Hive Mind Community Investment Cooperative is embarking on big things, but we need your help to grow!

As the days begin to get a little cooler and shorter, the Hive Mind Community Investment Cooperative team is redoubling our efforts to plant the seeds of transformational change in our beloved Athens, Georgia!

Since the spring, we've applied for non-profit status, facilitated resist and build dinners to tell our story & deepen relationships with key community members, made our first investment in a local business (shout out, Coach Ish!!), tabled at Juneteenth, hosted our first community event, dreamed & schemed together at a staff intensive (#swarm), started the process of establishing our Diversity Community Investment Fund, & currently have a staff cohort enrolled in the 12-week Black Coopnomics Academy. Phew! We have been busy. But we're just getting started...

Because we believe so deeply in people power, we're here to ask you, OUR PEOPLE, to support us as we move into the next phase of our work. We come before you with a simple ask:

With a little extra help from you, we know we can meet our fundraising goal. That's why we're asking the committed, the dedicated, the bold agents of change in this community, to take an extra step for us. As one of our founders, Imani Scott-Blackwell is fond of saying, "we are the ones we’ve been waiting for" -- this belief is foundational to Hive Mind: that our community already has the resources it needs to develop and grow a new economy where everyone will thrive.

Here's how:

During our fall fundraising week, 9/16-9/20, jot down a list of friends/family/colleagues you can reach out to that would be interested in Hive Mind & make a note of how much you are asking them to give.
Based on those estimates calculate your personal goal (at least $100).
Submit a pledge to participate with your name, contact info, & goal amount using this form.
A “hype man” from our team will reach out over the course of the week to celebrate your progress and troubleshoot any questions. We'll share sample language and social media ready graphics with you to make it easy as can be.

To ensure the donations you bring in are tied to you, you'll need to click on the button right under the fundraiser progress bar that says "Fundraise" and sign up. This will give you a custom fundraising link to share with everyone you know.

Hive Mind Community Investment Cooperative (HMCIC) is launching in Athens, GA to drive the development of a new economy in Athens, GA that creates the conditions for everyone to thrive. Founded by local entrepreneurs, organizers and real estate professionals, HMCIC is a community-led response to the rapid increase in housing costs in Athens, GA and surrounding counties. When they try to push us out - we push back.
