Introducing "Hockey & Helping Hands"

The holiday season is a time of joy, but for many families and teachers, it can also be a time of quiet stress. As the year winds down, classroom supplies, the very tools that fuel our children’s education, often dwindle.

But one North High School student saw this challenge not as an inevitability, but as an opportunity to help.

Legend Campbell, a junior working with the Sioux City Public Schools Foundation, has created the “Hockey and Helping Hands” supply drive in partnership with the Sioux City Musketeers. This unique effort is a compassionate plea to our community: let’s come together to ensure our students' classrooms are stocked and ready for the rest of the school year.

A single notebook, a box of crayons, or a container of disinfecting wipes may seem small, but together, they create a foundation of support that allows our children to thrive.

“Our goal is to ensure classrooms are stocked through the school year,” says Legend. “By donating even a few items, community members can make a big impact on the learning environment for our students and alleviate the stress for families, teachers, and schools.”

How You Can Lend a Helping Hand

We’ve made it simple for you to be part of this incredible story. You have two easy opportunities to donate supplies on Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, November 9:

Drive-Through Drop-Off: Saturday, Nov. 8 (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
Head to the Tyson Event Center parking lot. Stay comfortably in your car, and a volunteer will happily collect your donation of markers, pencils, notebooks, crayons, tissues, and disinfecting wipes.
Drop Off at the Game: Saturday, Nov. 8 & Sunday, Nov. 9
Cheer on the Musketeers and support our schools! Look for collection tables near the entrances of the Tyson Event Center before the puck drops at the home games.

Help Us Rebuild Our "Caring Closet"

In addition to school supplies, we are urgently seeking donations of new clothing items in all sizes to rebuild our depleted Caring Closet.

This vital resource provides comfort and dignity to students facing everything from small accidents at school to devastating crises like a house fire. Currently, we are completely out of stock and unable to meet these critical needs.

To ensure the health and safety of our students, all donated clothing must be new (in package or with tags). We are unable to accept used items.

Our most urgently needed items are pants and underwear in smaller children's sizes.

Your donation of new clothing will provide immediate, tangible support to a child in our community during their most vulnerable moment.
