As food costs rise, benefits are cut, and more Angelenos face challenges feeding their families, your support is more crucial than ever.

At the start of the year, when unprecedented fires swept through Los Angeles, our Community Exchange became an emergency distribution hub and provided critical support to impacted organizations across Los Angeles while continuing to serve our nightly Community Dinner and regular nonprofit partners. In the first week alone, the Exchange received and distributed nearly 100,000 pounds of food and thousands of essential items. We also launched Mobile Pantries and Healthy Living Grocery Bags, two initiatives bringing fresh, healthy food directly into fire-affected neighborhoods. By October, the Community Exchange had rescued 2.5 million pounds of food, reaching our 2025 goal three months early.

In April, alongside our partners: Asian Pacific Islander Forward Movement (APIFM), Polo’s Pantry, and Sunrise Organic Farm, we opened a Collaborative Food Hub: a shared space connecting food sourcing and distribution to strengthen food security across Los Angeles.

Over the summer, our Community Dinner and Wellness saw an increase in the number of guests, reflecting both the growing demand from Angelenos and the strength of our community’s response.

The work doesn’t end here. We are already planning for next year; we are committed to expanding access, strengthening partnerships, and showing up for our neighbors with care, dignity, and nourishment. Funding cuts, rising overall cost of living and food costs, and a growing need while the safety net is shrinking for many, mean we can’t do it alone. Hollywood Food Coalition is an organization dedicated to nourishing the community by rescuing and distributing food, preparing nightly meals, and uniting efforts to achieve food equity.

We work to end food insecurity and build a stronger, more connected Los Angeles through food, care, and collective action. Our Exchange rescues high-quality food and redistributes it daily to grassroots nonprofits across the city, expanding access, reducing waste, and supporting communities too often left out of traditional food systems. At our nightly Dinner, we serve nourishing, chef-prepared meals 365 days of the year, offering not just sustenance but consistency, dignity, and human connection for those experiencing hunger or hardship. Here, our Wellness team connects guests with essential services like healthcare, hygiene, and housing, while we advocate for a stronger, more equitable safety net that reaches everyone.
