The Holiday Season is a time when families and communities come together to enjoy delicious meals, share memories, and give thanks. For individuals experiencing hunger, homelessness, or extreme poverty, taking part in this tradition helps restore a sense of belonging and connection that is often lost when daily life is consumed by survival.

While providing a wholesome meal addresses immediate hunger and ensures that individuals receive the nourishment they need, our holiday outreach is also about making people feel welcomed, valued, and embraced by the spirit of the season.

Through LUW’s Holiday Lift program, we ensure that no one in our community is left out. This year, we will:

Serve sit-down holiday meals to 125 guests in our community kitchen and 70 residents at our men’s and women’s shelters.
Provide 285 families in our supportive housing and youth programs with grocery bags filled with holiday ingredients, along with a grocery store gift card so they can include the foods that are most sentimental or meaningful to them.

Sharing a meal creates space for connection, dignity, and care – reminders that are especially important when someone is struggling to meet their basic needs.

This work is possible thanks to our dedicated supporters and volunteers, who host food drives, welcome guests, prepare and serve meals, and create a warm, respectful atmosphere.
