Biking is booming across West Michigan! In 2025, more than 3,500 kids rode with Velo Kids, biking nearly 20,000 miles and spending over 14,000 hourslearning, exploring, and having fun on two wheels. Families across West Michigan are rediscovering the freedom and connection that come from biking — and the demand for safe, accessible places to ride has never been greater. When we build safe places to ride, kids and families show up in a big way.

Across the country, communities are finding that investing in outdoor spaces transforms health and happiness — and Holland is ready to do the same. A community bike park will give our growing network of riders a safe, exciting place to ride together, explore nature, and stay active. Cities like Bentonville, Arkansas and Chattanooga, Tennessee have shown how bike parks can boost local economies, strengthen community pride, and inspire families to live active, connected lives.

The Vision: A Bike Park for Holland

Holland has an incredible opportunity to build a Community Bike Park where kids, teens, and adults can ride, connect, and thrive.

Located at 97 N. River Avenue, just north of the Unity Bridge, the park will feature a 600-foot asphalt pump track, family-friendly riding zones, advanced features, connection to the Macatawa Greenway, linking neighborhoods, parks and the downtown. This central location will turn an underused space into a vibrant hub for riding, connection, and community life.

The Need: Completing the Vision

The City of Holland has already committed $703,000 and partnered with Velo Kids to create a Bike Park Fund, ensuring every dollar goes directly toward construction. With $783,000 secured, we’re ready to begin Phases 1 and 2 in 2026. The total project cost is $1.26–$1.44 million — and completing all phases together will maximize efficiency and impact. Velo Kids serves as the third-party fiscal host for this campaign. That means all donations are processed through Velo Kids (a registered 501(c)(3)), and 100% of the funds are restricted solely for the Holland Community Bike Park project.
