We're so glad you're joining us! This class is more than just a chance to learn the art of sourdough, it’s also supporting Preserve International, a nonprofit working to fight hunger and seasonal poverty in East Africa. Through food preservation training and innovation, Preserve International empowers women-led farmer groups and refugee communities to reduce crop loss and earn a stable income. Your participation helps make that possible!

Recommended Tools for Your Sourdough Journey

We’ll have everything you need for the class itself, so no need to bring any special tools. But if you’re excited to jump into sourdough baking at home right away, here are a few tools that will make the process easier and more enjoyable.

Highly Recommended:

Kitchen scale – Baking, especially sourdough, is much easier and more accurate when using weight measurements. Check out this scale
Dutch oven or heavy pot with lid – Essential for getting that crisp, bakery-style crust. I use my Le Creuset Dutch Oven and it works great. Or if you want to get fancy you can invest in a Cast Iron Bread Oven.
Proofing basket (banneton) – Helps your dough rise in the right shape. Check out these proofing baskets.

Optional, But Helpful:

Dough whisk – Makes mixing easier (a fork works too). Check out this dough whisk.
Bread lame – For scoring your dough (a very sharp knife also works). Check out this bread lame.
Dough scraper – Great for handling sticky dough and cleaning surfaces. These are less than $10 on Amazon.
