Journee is a tiny toy poodle puppy with a very big road ahead of her.

She was found abandoned in someone’s yard at just 6 weeks old, already suffering from a serious congenital condition called anal atresia, which means she was born without a normal anal opening. Because she had gone so long unable to pass stool normally, her colon ruptured and created a fistula into her vulva for feces to escape.

When Journee came into our care, she was rushed into emergency surgery to create an anal opening. Her first surgery did not hold, and she had to go back the very next day for a revision procedure.

Journee has already been through more than any puppy should. And through all of it, she has remained incredibly sweet, trusting, and full of life.

Now, Journee needs a specialty surgery at NC State to repair her rectovaginal fistula and give her the best chance at a healthy future. This surgery is estimated to cost $6,000–$8,000.

Right now, Journee is safe in the loving care of her medical foster mom, who manages her daily needs with extraordinary dedication and love. But we cannot get her to the next step without help.
