Hope Before Crisis

Giving Young People and Families the Support They Need Before Tragedy Strikes.

Last week, America mourned names it recognized.

A beloved actress died in Greenville. Two college students lost their lives in a tragedy that has sparked conversations about substance use. Presley Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died while seeking help, and authorities are investigating his death as a suspected overdose.

People shared the stories. News organizations covered the losses. Social media was filled with comments and condolences.

But for every tragedy that makes national headlines, thousands more never do.

The teenager, whose mother still keeps his bedroom exactly as he left it.

The college student, who promised she would be home next weekend.

The father, who thought he had more time.

The young person struggling silently with anxiety, depression, trauma, loneliness, or substance use right now.

The next life.

At Just Say Something and Compass of Carolina, we know that prevention works because we see it every day.

We see the student who chooses not to experiment because someone took the time to have an honest conversation.

We see the parents who learn how to recognize warning signs before a crisis develops.

We see the teen who finds hope, support, and healthy coping skills instead of turning to substances.

We see families reconnect.

We see lives change.

Most importantly, we see tragedies that never happen.

The problem is that prevention is invisible.

You never see the headline that says:

"Teen Chooses a Different Path."

"Family Gets Help Before Crisis."

"Student Graduates Instead of Overdosing."

"Parent Receives Support in Time."

Yet those are the stories your gift makes possible.

Today, I’m asking you to invest in prevention because we cannot continue accepting these losses as inevitable.

Your gift helps us:

Educate youth about the risks of drugs, alcohol, vaping, fentanyl, and other substances.
Support parents and caregivers with proven tools and resources.
Provide mental health and family support services.
Connect individuals to treatment and recovery resources.
Create opportunities for young people to build resilience, confidence, and hope.

We cannot bring back those we have lost.

But together, we can help save the next life.

Your Impact

$25 helps provide prevention materials for students.

$50 helps connect a family to education and support resources.

$100 helps expand youth prevention programming in our community.

$250+ helps ensure more young people receive life-saving prevention education before a crisis occurs.

Every gift matters.

Every conversation matters.

Every life matters.

Because somewhere tonight, another family is depending on us to reach their child before addiction, overdose, or despair does.

Help us save the next life.

Donate today and become part of the solution.

"The headlines remind us of who we've lost. Your gift helps determine who we save next."
