StreetLight is facing an immediate $50,000 emergency need to secure critical insurance coverage and protect housing and support services for vulnerable individuals and families in crisis.

We have always been a place of refuge for people facing homelessness, addiction, trauma, hunger, instability, and hopelessness.

Today, StreetLight itself is facing an urgent crisis.

Following a major insurance claim, StreetLight has encountered overwhelming obstacles securing the coverage required to continue operations. Insurance requirements have become extraordinarily difficult, and premiums have skyrocketed.

Our liability insurance alone increased from $13,000 annually to $24,000 just to maintain operations. Additional property coverage needs could bring total insurance costs to nearly $60,000 — an unsustainable burden for a nonprofit serving some of our community’s most vulnerable neighbors.

As a precautionary measure during this transition, 12 clients in our housing program are currently being cared for in temporary hotel accommodations while final insurance matters are resolved.

But through it all:

meals are still being served
outreach is still happening
shelter and support continue
hope remains alive

StreetLight is not giving up.

And we are asking our community to stand with us.
