A Second Chance at Life for a 5-Year-Old Hero

Halle is a 5-year-old cancer survivor, but the brutal treatments that saved her life have now put it in jeopardy. She is facing an unimaginable battle.

The toxic chemotherapy and radiation that defeated her cancer has left her with serious injuries to her organs. In the coming weeks, Halle will undergo a critical surgery that doctors hope will allow her to avoid what would otherwise be unthinkable: a nine-organ transplant. If the surgery is not successful, she will still need a new kidney, liver, stomach, duodenum, pancreas, colon, jejunum, ileum, and abdominal wall. The thought of a single organ transplant is terrifying. Needing nine is almost beyond words.

This journey has taken an immense toll on her family. Halle's mother, Ciara, has been her constant caregiver, navigating endless hospital stays, surgeries, and treatments, making it impossible for her to work. On top of everything, the family has been separated, with Ciara and Halle in NY while Halle's dad and brother remain at home, adding emotional and financial strain to an already impossible situation.

When we launched the 9 for 9 Challenge in Dec., your generosity was incredible. We reached 65% of our initial goal and that support made a real difference for Halle's family. Thank you.

But the need hasn't stopped. As the new year begins, so does a new round of financial hardship. Halle's family is now facing a deductible reset, meaning the medical costs that were partially covered are starting over from zero. Combined with ongoing expenses, lost income, and the uncertainty of what lies ahead medically, they are under tremendous strain once again.
