Bluegrass at Contact: Exploring Kentucky’s Early History

How did the people who lived on, traveled through, and settled the Bluegrass region shape the place we call home today?

Join HPBC/Hopewell Museum for a roundtable discussion exploring the region’s early history, from its Indigenous inhabitants to the hunters, settlers, landowners, and farmers who shaped its landscape and communities. Archaeologists and historians Dr. Berle Clay, Dr. Gwynn Henderson, and Nancy O'Malley, along with botanist Dr. Julian Campbell, will bring their unique perspectives to a conversation about the people, land, and changing ways of life that helped shape our region.

Understanding our past means looking beyond familiar stories to explore the many people and experiences that shaped our communities. This is at the heart of Hopewell Museum’s mission: preserving and sharing the history that connects us to the place we call home.

This discussion marks the inaugural event of the Hopewell Symposia, a new series bringing experts together to explore the history, culture, and stories of our region.

Located in the heart of Historic Paris-Bourbon County, the Hopewell Museum is dedicated to preserving the rich history and diverse culture of the region. Through exhibitions, educational programs, and community events like the Bill Coleman Jazz Weekend, the museum serves as a cultural conduit for residents and visitors alike.
