Join Bountiful Cities and our guest instructor Christopher Parker to learn about growing mushrooms from waste stream products with low tech cultivation methods. This workshop will give you hands on experience in using what you probably already have at home to get started. Learn to get the most out of production with little input. Participants will go home with straw (an agricultural by product) inoculated with oyster mushroom mycelium to produce their own food and medicine.

Christopher Parker, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, is a Culture Keeper—maintaining fungal culture libraries, seed and spore banks, and the living knowledge of how to use fungi to regenerate forests and feed people. He brings decades of hands-on experience in mushroom cultivation, forest tending practices, and regenerative design.

Christopher and Katherine Parker run The Forest Farmacy, a forest farm and land-based learning initiative in Madison County, where they teach mushroom growing, forest co-tending, and spiritual connection to the land as practical, embodied pathways toward personal and ecosystem healing. They are co-authors of The Mycelial Healer: A Comprehensive Guide to the Cultivation and Traditional Uses of Medicinal Mushrooms.
