Arrival
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can park and settle in before class starts.

Materials Fee

Each participant will need to supply their own yarn, needles, and notions; see required Tools / Materials list. There is no materials fee paid to the instructor, but we estimate the materials needed will cost $90 - 120.

Thanks for registering! This is a fun and beautiful pattern and I’m excited to knit it together this fall! Below, I’ve provided information that will help you purchase the materials and tools you’ll need. Please bring them to the first class so we can make the most of our time together

SIZES:

100 - kids 4

120 - kids 6/7

140 - kids 10

160 - kids 14/16

YARN: I recommend using Lanas yarn by Berroco. This is a 100% wool yarn that requires hand-washing. It is durable, does pill easily, and has a range of gorgeous colorways–including those depicted in the class images.

This yarn is available at The Yarnery in St. Paul and participants in this class receive 10% off their yarn purchase. (It’s probably available elsewhere, too!) After the 10% discount, the cost of the yarn is $60 - $80, depending on the size you choose to knit. You will need to select four colors:

Main color - 2 (3, 4, 4) skeins depending on size

Contrast 1 - 1 skein

Contrast 2 - 1 skein

Contrast 3 - 1 skein

Staff at The Yarnery have this information on hand along with the pattern. They can show you the yarn, help you select colors, and make sure you have the tools you need.

If you need to substitute the yarn due to a wool allergy, staff at The Yarnery will assist you in choosing a similar gauge yarn of another material.

TOOLS and NOTIONS: 2 pairs of 40” double-pointed needles, sizes 6 and 8. These range in price from $12-18 per pair at The Yarnery. You will also need a darning needle and stitch markers (approximately $5 for both). I have a limited number of tools available to loan–contact me if you’d like to borrow anything and I’ll try to help.

What to expect
Join CPC founder Anna Lindall in this lively knit-along class in which you’ll learn all the skills needed to knit your own child-size Icelandic sweater.

Food
Feel welcome to bring a meal or snack. A microwave and toaster oven are available as well as a tea and coffee.

Waiver
All participants must sign a waiver prior to the beginning of class. For those under 18, the waiver must be completed by a parent/guardian. You may download the waiver, print, and sign ahead of time–or just show up and sign at the start of class.

Location, Directions + Accessibility
CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT (519 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis, MN 55403) is located in Loring Park across the street from the Walker Art Center, facing Hennepin Avenue. Finding us on your first visit can be a little tricky, so please read details ahead of time.

We are located in a low stone building to the south of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. (We rent our space from the Cathedral but are a separate entity.) We can be accessed by two different doors.

"Front" / Accessible Parking and Entrance: Our front entrance is located to the right (south) of St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral and directly across Hennepin Ave from the Walker Art Center in a low stone building with a concrete ramp. We have around 10 accessible parking spaces here that can be accessed while driving north on Hennepin only--pull into the red "bus only" lane and turn right into the pullout just before St Mark's Cathedral near the playground. Go up the concrete ramp and ring the doorbell attached to the plywood CPC sign.

"Back" / Main Parking and Entrance: On the opposite side of the building, at the back left of the Cathedral's large parking lot, we share a lower level red door with Los Pequenos childcare. Park anywhere in the lot--it's free for CPC participants. Then ring the CPC doorbell at the red door. Please note that this entrance requires that you climb a flight of stairs.

Cancellation Policy: CPC can provide refunds up to two weeks before the class start date (minus a $20 processing fee). Within two weeks, refunds aren’t guaranteed but may be considered.
