Her Voice Media would like to formally invite you to the exciting film premiere of our youth-led mini documentary — If the River Were a Woman — and the launch of our fall 2026 Love Girls Magazine edition, sponsored by the Quad Cities Community Foundation’s annual QC River Connections grant!

WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 27 from 6–7:30 p.m. (documentary begins at 7pm)

WHERE: The Last Picture House Rooftop (325 E Second St. in Davenport)

Created by our 2026 Her Voice Media fellows, If the River Were a Woman explores the Mississippi River through three chapters:

Her Ancestry, Her Body, and Her Voice.

This mini-doc is the culmination of months of hard work, hands-on reporting, interviewing, and shared learning from our 2026 fellows, developing the kind of storytelling that both informs and inspires communities.

The film features perspectives and stories from voices across our region and beyond, including Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Art Cullen of the Storm Lake Times-Pilot, Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati, Dan Breidenstein of Living Lands & Waters, Kathy Wine of River Action, Sikowis (Christine) Nobiss of Great Plains Action Society, local historians, environmental leaders, families, educators, and more.

TICKETS ARE FREE! 🎟️ Come meet the storytellers, see the film, grab a magazine, and spend an evening with us celebrating the river, the young women who told her story, and the community that surrounds them.
