Jared lived the way he skated: all in, with a huge smile on his face and nothing held back.

A beloved husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend, Jared had a rare gift for making everyone in his life feel like they were his best friend. Jared loved his girls more than anything in the world: his wife, Anne, and their pup, Phoebe. His biggest cheerleaders, Anne and Phoebe could often be found watching J from the sidelines of the skatepark, hyping him up like only they could.

Jared embraced life with the same fearless spirit that defined his skating, so to honor his memory, Jared's family has come together to raise funds in Jared's name to benefit the Oak Cliff Skatepark, which is under development by the Dallas Parks & Recreation department.

Dallas City Council Member for District 1 Chad West, the Oak Cliff community and 501(c)(3) non-profit Skateparks for Dallas have come together to raise money to create the Oak Cliff Skatepark at Westmoreland Park, the first free public concrete skatepark south of I-30. Private and public donors have already raised $1.8 million in support of Phase 1 of the project. This fund raiser in Jared's name will go to Phase 2, with a focus on the gathering spaces, shade structured and amenities that make a skatepark an amazing gathering place for the community.

Dallas Parks & Recreation has come to understand what Jared knew, that skateparks are the kind of gathering places our community needs. They welcome people from all walks of life, and all skill levels, to come together and build the kind of friendship and connection that Jared enjoyed throughout his life.
