Donations will help pay for Artist honorariums, office supplies, a videographer and seed money for the show's future development. Any donation amount is appreciated! ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT:

Andrew Cristi [he/they] is a queer, GNC, performing artist and playwright who spawns from Thai, Filipino and Chinese ancestry. They were born in Chicago, but lived in Bangkok, Thailand for much of their childhood. As a teen, Andrew travelled back to the US, later receiving his BFA at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. As a cynically optimistic counterculturist, they write funny plays about queerness, cringe culture, anti-heroes and more. Andrew's play readings include S-x Care (Bonfire Theatre Group), incel, and Corinthians (Broadway Barkada). He lives in Queens, NY with his homosexual lover/b*tch, Steve. IG: @hello_drewby. ABOUT THE PLAY:

It's 2022 and Emy Mendoza, a mother of a kid named Archie, leaves her husband as she navigates life in the Illinois suburbs. Exploring themes of white-American assimilation, misogyny and retribution, Andrew Cristi's darkly comic play is a scathing critique on incel culture and the Filipino-American family it terrorizes.

Broadway Barkada is an affinity group that provides a community for Filipino artists that cultivates our talents, educates our audiences, and elevates our global impact. It was founded in 2009 by Liz Casasola, Brian Jose, and Billy Bustamante. What started as a small group of Filipino performers has turned into an organization comprised of nearly one hundred active members. Broadway Barkada aims to nurture and support Filipino artists who believe in the importance of cultural awareness. Through art and education we aim to bring the Filipino experience to a diverse audience and to give them a deeper understanding of our culture and our artists.
