Help Us Inspire the Next Generation of Ocean Stewards

Isla Mar’s Youth Education Program was created in response to a growing need: to teach Puerto Rico’s younger generations about marine science, our impact on the ocean, and how deeply we depend on this ancient system for our way of life.

Through a unique blend of play, lessons, and field experiences, we provide students ages 5–17 with a holistic, hands-on education they cannot find anywhere else. Our young scientists-in-training work side by side with active marine and terrestrial scientists and learn directly from local leaders in the field in a supportive, bilingual environment. Although some of our offerings require a fee, we provide partial or full scholarships as well as free outreach activities which are supported by generous donors.

With small class sizes, every student gets the personalized attention they deserve. Our curriculum nurtures mindfulness, observation skills, and critical thinking while sparking creativity and a love for learning. From ocean food webs to marine mega fauna, fish biology, and ocean conservation, every class brings new discoveries, and plenty of fun!

Current offerings include:

A three-week program for ages 5–6
A six-week program for ages 7–12
Weekend classes for ages 13–17
Collaborations with schools and other youth groups for one-day classes
Outreach events twice a year
