The Tampa Bay Times won its 14th Pulitzer Prize for an exhaustive investigation that showed how factory employees were being exposed to extreme levels of poisons in their workplace. The project underscores the vital importance of an independent, locally-owned news operation like the Times, which won another Pulitzer Prize last year for a local investigation that exposed wrongdoing and injustice.

These stories are just one facet of what makes our news organization a community treasure. We are devoted to informing you about local institutions, businesses, schools, politics and the overall health of Tampa Bay. We also provide blanket coverage of your favorite sports teams and local entertainment. In everything we do, we strive to tell stories that matter and that can make a difference.

We’re trying to raise $50,000. That’s enough to fund one full-time reporter in our newsroom; or allow us to obtain documents and data to produce more projects; or make much needed improvements to our photography equipment; or cover a year’s worth of in-state travel for reporting trips for the entire newsroom. The money we raise goes to fund our general news operation. We’ll put the funds to good use to serve our readers.
