Two years ago, we brought the Institute back to Chelsea. Today, we have the opportunity to ensure it continues to thrive.

October 19 marks the second anniversary of IYAGNY’s remarkable reinstatement of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York at 150 West 22nd Street. Your extraordinary generosity in 2024 and 2025 made this possible, and together, we exceeded the goal in both years.

Now, we’re asking you to carry that momentum forward. Our goal for Fall Fund 2026 is $65,000. With your support, we can continue to build a strong, accessible, and vibrant future for Iyengar Yoga in the greater New York region.

2026 has been an extraordinary year

This past May, the IYNAUS 2026 Convention took place in Philadelphia, welcoming Abhijata Iyengar from RIMYI in Pune to our region, including a very special visit to the Institute. These special opportunities strengthen our connection to the living lineage of the Iyengar family and inspire our continued learning and practice in this method.

The Association enjoys a home through the Institute, which serves as a shared space for lifelong learning – to sustain practice, ignite study, refine teaching, and continue sharing the transformative teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. Our programming helps knit the fabric of our tri-state community and beyond together to study with senior teachers like Raya U.D. and Firooza Razvi, deepen our understanding of yoga philosophy with scholars like Graham Schweig, and provides more than 85 classes each week—136 when online components of our hybrid classes are included.

We support students who might otherwise be unable to afford classes, help teachers advance their education and pursue certification, and create opportunities for new generations of practitioners to discover Iyengar Yoga.

Secure the future of Iyengar Yoga within our three-state region of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Enrich your practice through classes, workshops, series, guest teachers, philosophy studies, and continuing education provided by the Institute.
Expand access to Iyengar Yoga through scholarships for students and financial assistance for teachers across the region.
Keep essential programs accessible at no charge, including offerings such as Breast Health, Continuing Studies for Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers, NextGen for 17-26 year olds, and programs serving People of Color, LGBTQ+ practitioners and Sutra Study.
Bring our community together through events that foster connection and a shared sense of purpose.
Invest in teachers, helping them pursue assessment, study with the Iyengars in Pune, and participate in important educational opportunities.
Reach beyond our walls with programming for children, seniors, and other communities who benefit from the teachings of Iyengar Yoga.
