Patrick Kenney is a Ben Steele science teacher with a strong commitment to aviation based education. For 25 years he has run a distinctive STEM program in collaboration with the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 57. Over the past four years, students from Ben Steele, West, and Senior High have been diligently working on the sixth aircraft in Mr. Kenney's program. A 1935 Boeing 306B flying wing. Once completed, the Boeing 306B will be proudly displayed at Ben Steele Middle School as a tribute to the Greatest Generation and will hang next to their previous aircraft, a 1929 Northrup Glider, a tribute to the legacy of Ben Steele. Why We Need Your Help

The construction of the Boeing 306 B is an incredible learning opportunity for our students, involving skills in engineering, mathematics, history, and teamwork. However, bringing this project to fruition requires resources beyond our means. The aircraft is built to FAA standards as per (AC) 20-27G using only aircraft grade materials, methods, and hardware. We are seeking funding to cover essential components, including:

Landing Gear: To ensure the aircraft’s high-impact landing forces, ground maneuverability, and braking.
Avionics/Flight Controls: For the installation of necessary flight instruments and flight control hardware.
4130 Steel & Spruce: High-quality materials crucial for a safe and accurate build.
Covering & Paint: To protect and finish the aircraft with historical accuracy.
Military Markings: To honor the original design and purpose of the aircraft.
