January is all about jazz at MYAC! Our Jazz Program students get to work with Guest Artist Sharel Cassity during our Jazz in January events at the 28 Mile Distilling Co. in Highwood. Sharel is a rising star in the Chicago Jazz scene and we can't wait to hear her play her saxophone along with our young cats in MYAC big bands! The MYAC Jazz Program is for any student who wishes to deepen their knowledge of America’s great art form. Through participation in big bands, combos and improvisation classes, students will master jazz styles and core musicianship skills. MYAC jazz students have the opportunity to perform with internationally acclaimed guest artists in premier jazz and concert venues throughout Chicago and beyond. A free jazz improv class is offered for all members as well. MYAC Jazz Big Bands are directed by Mr. Drew Hansen. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for students, and free for MYAC students.
