The Jack Barker Memorial Fun Paddle & Race is our annual celebration of family fun on the Buckhannon River. The event honors the life and legacy of Jack Barker, and serves as the primary fundraiser to support our clean water initiatives.

Jack Barker Memorial Fun Paddle & Race 2025
Join us for a family friendly paddle event on the beautiful Buckhannon River! Two paddle options, music, food, and education to celebrate our community and river. Any type of non-motorized recreational boats are welcome to join: canoes, kayaks, and standup paddle boards. All participants must wear their life jackets. Spectators, family, and friends can also join and enjoy a day on the banks of the Buckhannon River. We will have a food truck and education vendors and live music from the Buckhannon Community Band!

10:00 AM Registration & Check In, Vendors & exhibits open
11:00 AM Beginner Paddler Clinic #1
12:00 PM Main Paddle Begins (Leisure paddle or join the competitive open race division - awards to the top 3 finishers)
1:00 PM Buckhannon Community Band Plays
1:30 PM Kids Paddle Begins (Kids & Youth focus; 1.5 miles roundtrip; awards for all finishers) + Beginner Clinic #2
