We're getting pumped up for the Joaq-a-thon on September 28th. Collectively JM needs to raise $70,000 this year to support critical JM programs. The money goes towards the PTA who bring in programs for the children that are not provided by the public school directly — library support, art classes, yard supervisors, PE/movement classes, academic tutors and field trips.
Additionally, this year, the 4th graders will be pooling their money to put towards the overnight 4th grade field trip to Coloma! We need $27,000 across the three 4th grade classes to cover the cost of the trip. On this trip, the kids participate in a number of activities that immerse them in the history of the Gold Rush. There are a lot of connections made to things that we learned in the classroom, so a lot of what they learn during our social studies lessons at school is brought to life at Coloma through the CODS program. It really is an excellent way to make this crucial and fascinating time in California history as real as can be. Help us ensure that every 4th grader at JM has the opportunity to attend this critical learning experience.
