I do not rush. I stand back and watch — always watching — until every member of my Herd is where they belong. Only then do I step forward.

There was a time when my body only knew fear.

At the sight of a halter, I would freeze. Breath sharp, muscles locked, heart pounding so hard it echoed through me. What happened before I came here, stayed inside my body.

When I arrived at Unbridled, I barely knew how to be with horses.

It was Pleasant Pastures, the matriarch of the Herd I now sheperd, who showed me. She took me into her circle. Stood beside me. Guided me. She taught me how to belong.

When she passed, grief and confusion overtook our Herd. We mourned hard, until Angie stepped forward to lead. And I stepped into a new role too. Not in front. But within. Beside, and behind.

Now, I am the one who watches.

I will not enter my stall until every member of my Herd is safely inside. I will not step into the paddock until they are all there before me.

I move last. Because I am making sure no one is left behind.

I live with Angie, Posey, Toes, Speedy, and Libby. Sometimes Posey and I switch stalls, like quiet friends choosing each other's room for the night.

Most days, you will find me at the edge of the paddock, grazing slowly, my eyes always on them.

This is where I am at peace. Not apart. But aware.

Humans are different to me now. I do not disappear when they come close. I meet them. I walk with them.

And when people come to visit, I stand beside a child or a quiet elder, and I feel something new move through me. Connection.

Indy’s care is daily and non-negotiable. Your support provides her hay, feed, farrier care, veterinary support, and the safe environment she depends on.

Why does it cost $12,500 per year?

Indy’s needs don’t come once, they come every day. Indy’s care is real, daily, and ongoing:

Farrier, Dental, Medical Care: ~$1,800–$2,200/year
