Lawfare cuts through the noise and helps guide people as to what issues are genuinely of concern and how to understand those issues on a granular level. Over the years, Lawfare has produced a substantial body of impactful work - which included thoughtful and widely cited coverage. Lawfare today brings experience an a certain sophistication to our understanding of the issues unlike any other publication.

While our goal of $400K only represents about half of the annual cost for Lawfare's journalism portfolio, reaching (or even exceeding) that amount would not only provide important financial support for this sustained multi-year endeavor, but also demonstrate how much people rely on Lawfare to be a trustworthy source of information.

Through our journalism portfolio, Lawfare is focused on mobilizing resources to:

Respond to the policy choices and proposals of the administration with timely and useful analysis for a wide audience of policy experts, journalists, lawyers, business leaders, civil society, and the broader public. Lawfare has created a unique resource to analyze the legal and national security relevant executive actions and related litigation, track issues related domestic deployment of the military, collect source documents, and regularly hold live weekly discussions. This includes support for the impactful reporting and analysis of Anna Bower, Roger Parloff, Molly Roberts, Michael Feinberg, Eric Columbus, and Loren Voss.

Provide short-term fellowships to public servants who have left government (or were forced out) recently, but who bring a wealth of experience relevant to Lawfare's focus areas. Check out the Public Service Fellowship for more information on this. Not included in goal amount above.

While President Trump will likely continue dominate news and policy conversations, Lawfare is fully committed to its content that is not directly related or impacted by the presidency—including but not limited coverage of the war in Ukraine, the broader challenges confronting the Middle East, as well as coverage on the evolving policy landscape related to cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence.
