When Carol Simpson's husband, Jimmy, suffered an anoxia brain injury in 1995, she saw the need for a place where individuals with traumatic brain injuries could receive the highest quality of nursing, medical and therapeutic care. She took action and founded the Jimmy Simpson Foundation (JSF) and Safehaven in 1998.

Today, Safehaven continues to be a place individuals with traumatic brain injuries can call home. However, we have reached capacity and cannot accept any new patients. Now, we're on a mission to expand our bed capacity from 12 to 24 beds. Through this expansion, we will also be able to provide new outpatient services to North Georgia and the surrounding area.

To accommodate this rising need for resources, we've launched our Foundations for the Future Campaign. You're invited to join us in our growth as we strive to better serve individuals and families impacted by traumatic brain injury.

At The Jimmy Simpson Foundation (JSF), we are dedicated to providing compassionate care and resources for individuals living with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and their families. As an established leader in long-term care, rehabilitation, and advocacy, our mission is to foster hope, healing, and home for those facing the lifelong challenges of brain injuries.

JSF serves as the umbrella organization for several critical programs that address the diverse needs of individuals affected by TBI:

Safehaven – Our specialized residential care home, offering 24/7 skilled nursing and supportive services in a home-like environment tailored to individuals with traumatic brain injuries and ventilator dependency.
Northwest Georgia Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group – A community-driven initiative providing support, education, and resources for survivors, caregivers, and families navigating life after TBI.
Foundations for the Future – Our initiative focused on expanding access to specialized care, therapy, and community support, ensuring individuals with brain injuries receive the innovative services and long-term resources they need to thrive.

As the demand for specialized TBI care continues to grow, we are expanding our footprint to offer additional services and enhanced resources for the individuals and families we serve. Through this growth, we remain committed to our core values: providing exceptional care, advocating for brain injury awareness, and fostering a supportive community for those affected by TBI.
